Kaohsiung 1 Day Tour: Fo Guang Shan, Lotus Pond, Cijin Island, and more!

This scenic area combines nature, architecture, and culture. The pond itself is filled with lotus plants which blooms every spring with pretty pink flowers. Nearby are three sets of impressive architecture, the most famous of which is the Dragon and Tiger Pagodas. Located near the water, the twin pagodas as well as the unique entrance and exit of the pagodas (you will enter through the mouth of the dragon and exit through the mouth of the tiger) make for the perfect photo opportunity. The lesser known Ciji Temple and Spring and Autumn Pavilions are spectacular as well.

Fo Guang Shan is a huge complex of numerous Buddhist temples. Not only is it a place of worship, it is also a great place for visitors to learn more about Buddhism and its ties to Taiwanese culture. Even if you are not a religious person, the beautiful architecture of the temples and statues will surely impress you. Museum is closed every Tuesday so nearby Fo Guang Shan Monastery will be visited.

Cihou (Qihou) Fort is right next to Cihou Lighthouse, and visitors often visit these two landmarks together. Cihou Fort gives a glimpse of Taiwan's history, especially during wartime.

Cihou Lighthouse (Kaohsiung Lighthouse) is located on Cijin Island, and you can either drive or take a ferry there. The views from here are stunning, especially during sunset. A popular destination for a good reason.

Cijin (Qijin) Old Street, about a 5 minute drive away from Cihou Lighthouse and Cihou Fort, is a great place to have fresh seafood and other delicacies!
